OVERALL PURPOSE
ACE Forum is an organisation set up to create and deliver educational programmes and workshops to parents/families. Through a creative story-based curriculum we intend to engage parents in the education and development of their children.
Akhita Benjamin
After graduating from Inns of Court School of Law Akhita worked in the Probation Service for 12 years before returning to learning in 2004-05 and gained a PGCE for Post Compulsory Education and Training. During this time she wrote and delivered training sessions for new staff members and was also teaching as a volunteer in supplementary schools for over 10 years. Since 2005 Akhita has worked in Family Learning, also taught Adult Literacy and Numeracy as well as teacher training courses:- NCFE Level 2 SWIS (Support Work in Schools) and City and Guilds Level 3 PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector). Recently she has written and delivered teacher training workshops for volunteer teachers in supplementary schools, including supporting children with SEN (Special Educational Needs), and managing the classroom environment and behaviour.
Claud Adisa Steven
Adisa has worked in secondary education for the past 13 years as an Academic Learning Mentor. Prior to this Adisa was employed as a Play-worker/-Leader, responsible for providing a safe, creative environment for students from the age of 5 to 11. Simultaneously he worked as a Youth Worker, to promote the personal, educational and social development of young people aged between 13 and 19. In addition Adisa was Head of the History department at an Independent Saturday School creating and delivering educational programmes (1999-2000).
Recent achievements include a BA in Social and Cultural Studies and an MA in Cultural History. He has also completed several internal courses, which included Linda Mood-Bell (visualizing and verbalising), Social Skills, Confidence Building and has attained a certificate for The National Programme for Specialist Leaders of Behaviour and Attendance Focus Therapy. In February 2013, Adisa completed a course in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS).
Throughout his career he has written, directed and performed in several plays and workshops, celebrating the richness of cultural and historical diversity.
